Surging Canadiens host Brodeur, reeling Devils

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens have successfully vanquished two of the three defending Eastern Conference division champions over their past two games.

The Canadiens look to complete a clean sweep Saturday when they host the reigning Atlantic Division champion New Jersey Devils.

After dropping a heartbreaking 5-4 shootout decision to rival Toronto last Saturday, Montreal bounced back with a 4-2 triumph Tuesday over the Ottawa Senators, last season's Northeast Division winner.

The Canadiens followed up that win with an even more impressive 4-0 victory over the reigning Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, who also claimed the Southeast Division crown last season.

Cristobal Huet turned aside 31 shots to record his 12th career shutout while defenseman Mike Komisarek collected a goal and an assist for Montreal, which is seeking its first three-game winning streak this season.

The Canadiens aim for their first win since March 2004 against the Devils, who have dropped four of their last six.

After riding two-time Vezina Trophy winner Martin Brodeur to back-to-back shutout victories over Florida and Columbus last week, New Jersey looked awful defensively in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders.

Zach Parise had a goal and an assist but Brodeur stopped just 22 shots for the Devils, who won all four meetings with the Canadiens last season.
