Capitals try to rebound from tough loss against Flyers
Nov 4, 2006 - 4:40 PM Washington (4-4-4) at Philadelphia (3-8-1) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The last thing the Philadelphia Flyers need is to play a hockey club in a bad mood.
However, that is what the Flyers will get when they host the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
The Capitals dropped a 4-3 decision to the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday. Washington led, 2-0, midway through the second period, but allowed Atlanta to score three times in a span of 3:17 in the second period.
Dainius Zubrus scored twice while Chris Clark added the other goal for the Capitals, who lost their third straight to the Thrashers this season.
The Flyers have actually been better lately, going 2-2-0 in their last four after a disastrous 1-6-1 start that followed with the firing of coach Ken Hitchcock and resigning of general manager Bobby Clarke.
However, Philadelphia lost its last game, 5-2, to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. The Flyers trailed, 3-0, midway through the third period before R.J. Umberger and Randy Jones scored.
A reason for the Flyers woes this season is a dormant power play. Philadelphia went 0-for-4 on the power play against the Lightning, and have the worst ranking in the league at 8.1 percent.
No one has shouted yet.
