Sharks look to win again vs. Blues

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - The San Jose Sharks are fresh off a four game slide. They'll try to push their modest winning streak to two games when they host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.

The Sharks and goaltender Evgeni Nabokov hit a rare rough patch last week, dropping four in a row which coincided with the All-Star netminder's first day off on January 13.

Nabokov allowed five, four and six goals in three games upon his return, his highest three-game total of the season and only the second and third times all year that he had allowed more than four goals in a contest.

San Jose rebounded on Tuesday to post a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Nabokov made 28 saves and withstood a furious rally in the final minutes.

The Blues have yet to snap out of their current funk, pushing their losing streak to six games with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

They have yielded 30 goals in the past six games. Veteran goaltender Manny Legace was recently named to the All-Star team, but has presided over four of the losses while allowing 15 goals.

Nabokov outdueled Legace in the only meeting between the teams this season, earning the shutout in a 1-0 victory on December 28.
