Blue Jackets looking for road success vs. Blackhawks
Jan 24, 2008 - 3:25 PM Columbus (24-20-6) at Chicago (23-22-4) 8:30 pm ESTCHICAGO (Ticker) - The Columbus Blue Jackets may be tied for second place in the Central Division, but their success has come despite a dismal road record.
The Blue Jackets look to complete their first successful road trip of the season on Thursday when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks.
Columbus, which is tied with the Nashville Predators for second place in the division behind the Detroit Red Wings, is just 8-14-2 away from home this season.
However, the Blue Jackets are 2-2-0 on their current five-game road trip. A win on Thursday would give Columbus its first winning stint on the road since going 2-1-0 from the end of February to the beginning of March last season.
Columbus could also win back-to-back games on the road for the first time since October after claiming a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks had a four-game winning streak snapped during their last game on Tuesday, falling 3-2 to the San Jose Sharks.
The loss was Patrick Lalime's first in his last five games, posting a 4-1-0 record over that span while allowing just seven goals.
