Canucks, Ducks both battling for divisional leads

Jan 29, 2008 - 2:25 PM Dallas (28-20-5) at Vancouver (26-19-5) 10:00 pm EST

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- A pair of teams battling for divisional leads meet Tuesday when the Vancouver Canucks host the Dallas Stars.

The Canucks, who sit two points behind the Minnesota Wild in the Northwest Division, snapped a four-game losing streak in their final game before the All-Star break with a 3-2 shootout victory over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday.

The Stars are trying to avoid a three-game losing streak as they open a three-game road trip through Western Canada. Dallas is tied with San Jose for first place in the Pacific Division.

All-Star Mike Ribeiro leads Dallas with 22 goals and 54 points this season, but has failed to score a goal in the previous seven games.

Vancouver's lone All-Star representative, Henrik Sedin leads the club with 42 assists and 51 points this season. The Swedish center set up two goals in the midseason gala on Sunday and he has two goals and seven assists in the last seven contests.

Goaltender Roberto Luongo, who elected not to participate in the All-Star Game after being voted in by the fans, will likely be back in the crease for the Canucks. Luongo is 22-16-4 with a 2.10 goals-against average and six shutouts this season.
