Savard, Bruins face Predators for only meeting this season
Jan 29, 2008 - 2:27 PM Nashville (25-20-5) at Boston (25-19-5) 7:00 PM ESTBOSTON (Ticker) - The Nashville Predators meet the Boston Bruins for the only time this season on Tuesday.
The teams played only once last year with the Predators winning at home, 5-0. Boston has won six of the 12 all-time meetings with Nashville.
The Bruins won three of their last four games before the All-Star break, including a 4-1 home victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday that came on the heels of an 8-2 loss at Montreal on Tuesday.
"We wanted this win big time," Boston center Marc Savard said. "Obviously with the embarrassment of what happened in Montreal, the guys played hard."
Savard scored the winning goal with 20.9 seconds left Sunday night to lift the Eastern Conference to an 8-7 win over the West in the All-Star game.
The Bruins enter the second half of the season in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Boston is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games and trails the second-place Canadiens by five points in the Northeast Division.
Nashville had a three-game winning streak snapped in its last game before the break, a 4-3 overtime loss at Phoenix.
The Predators are 10th in the Western Conference standings, one point behind Columbus and Colorado.
