Lecavalier, Lightning set to host in-state rival Panthers

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - Despite possessing one of the league's most talented offenses, the Tampa Bay Lightning have found their way to the bottom the Eastern Conference standings.

Vincent Lecavalier will try to lead the Lightning to their fifth win in their last seven contests and help them climb out of the conference basement when they host the Florida Panthers on Saturday night in a Southeast Division matchup.

Tampa Bay, which sits four points behind fourth-place Florida in the division, is closing out a five-game homestand.

Lecavalier, who might be a Hart Trophy candidate if the team was in the playoff picture, leads the club with 31 goals and is tied for second in the league with 68 points this season.

The Panthers, who just finished a four-game homestand with a 4-3 shootout victory over former goaltender Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks, is kicking off a five-game road swing.

Captain Olli Jokinen leads the club with 24 goals and 50 points this season.
