Flames look to rebound against Coyotes
Feb 5, 2008 - 2:39 PM Phoenix (28-22-3) at Calgary (26-19-8) 9:00 pm ESTCALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Coming off their worst loss of the season, the Calgary Flames hope to bounce back against the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday.
In the latest edition of the "Battle of Alberta," the Flames endured a 5-0 beating at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
Resting Miikka Kiprusoff, the Flames went with 40-year-old Curtis Joseph in goal. Joseph, who was making his first start of the season, signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract on January 17.
The loss also marked the 10th straight game that leading-scorer Jarome Iginla failed to score a goal. The right wing has five assists over that span and still leads the team with 32 tallies on the season.
The Coyotes have gone 2-1-1 on a five-game road trip that ends with this contest.
Phoenix defeated Colorado, 4-3, in overtime on Monday after Radim Vrbata scored in the extra session. Vrbata had also tied the game with 3:11 left in regulation and leads the team with 22 tallies.
The Coyotes won the first meeting, 3-1, on January 8. Calgary won three of the four meetings between the teams last season.
