Blackhawks look to halt losing streak

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) - The Chicago Blackhawks try to snap a five-game losing streak when they visit the Calgary Flames on Thursday.

Chicago, which suffered through an eight-game losing streak in early January, had won four straight before its recent skid.

The latest setback was a 4-1 defeat at Edmonton on Wednesday, which was the third game of a seven-game road trip. Patrick Sharp netted the lone tally for the Blackhawks, who have scored just eight goals during the losing streak.

The Flames bounced back from their worst loss of the season with a come-from-behind 4-3 shootout victory over Phoenix on Tuesday. The Flames trailed, 3-0, entering the third period.

Calgary's leading scorer Jarome Iginla netted a goal for the first time in 11 games and also had the shootout winner in Tuesday's win. The right wing tied the game with nine seconds left in regulation, capping a three-goal period that featured two tallies from defenseman Dion Phaneuf.

The two teams have split the first two meetings this season with each club winning on the opposition's home ice.
