Red Wings aim to start new streak vs. Maple Leafs

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings aim to start a new winning streak on Saturday afternoon, when they visit their "Original Six" rival Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time in over four years.

Detroit, which leads the league with 86 points, had its eight-game winning streak snapped in surprising fashion on Thursday.

All-Star Henrik Zetterberg scored twice as the Red Wings carried a 3-1 lead into the third period against the Los Angeles Kings. But Detroit allowed four goals in the final session and dropped a 5-3 decision to Los Angeles.

Zetterberg, who missed the All-Star game while nursing a back injury, has seven goals in his last six games.

Zetterberg and company will look to get back on track in Toronto, where they have not played since a 5-2 loss on December 6, 2003.

The Maple Leafs rebounded from their worst loss of the season with a 4-2 win over the rival Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. It was a much-needed win for Toronto, which suffered an 8-0 setback to Florida two days earlier.

Darcy Tucker scored twice and Vesa Toskala stopped 34 shots as Toronto won for the second time in three games.
