Stars seeking sixth straight win

Feb 9, 2008 - 1:04 PM St. Louis (24-21-7) at Dallas (33-20-5) 8:00 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) - The Dallas Stars are on a five-game winning streak, but injuries are starting to stack up.

The Stars will once again be without defenseman Sergei Zubov and likely will not have goaltender Marty Turco when they host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Zubov, an All-Star defenseman who has been battling hand and foot ailments, has missed the Stars last eight games and was placed on injured reserve Thursday with a groin injury.

Turco, who is 23-11-4 this season with a 2.33 goals-against average, did not make the trip to Minnesota for Dallas' last game against the Wild for precautionary reasons due to a sore neck.

Mike Smith filled in admirably against the Wild as he made 25 saves in a 1-0 win, recording his second shutout of the season in his first start since January 22.

Smith, who is 11-9-0 this campaign, helped the Stars forge a six-point lead atop the Pacific Division with their eighth win in their last 10 games.

The Blues suffered their second straight setback, 5-4, against the Tampa Bay Lighting on Tuesday. Brad Boyes, Keith Tkachuk, Jamal Mayers and David Perron each scored a goal for St. Louis, which has lost nine of its last 11 games.
