Malkin, Penguins aim for fourth straight win

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - All-Star Evgeni Malkin is helping the Pittsburgh Penguins survive life without Sidney Crosby.

Malkin hopes to guide the Penguins to their fourth consecutive victory when they host the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.

After Crosby was injured on January 18, Malkin has eight goals and 13 assists in his last 10 games. As a result, the Penguins are 6-2-2 in that stretch.

The Calder Trophy winner last season, Malkin scored a goal and had three assists in Pittsburgh's 4-3 win over Philadelphia on Sunday.

While Pittsburgh has been faring well, Boston has lost four its last five.

On Tuesday, the Carolina Hurricanes scored the game's first three goals before Shawn Thornton tallied twice in the span of 27 seconds late in the contest. The Bruins couldn't score again, and dropped a 3-2 decision to the Hurricanes.

Pittsburgh has won its last four meetings against Boston - including a 5-4 win in Boston on December 20.
