Stars eye eighth consecutive victory

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The Dallas Stars go for a franchise-record eighth straight win Thursday when they visit the Phoenix Coyotes.

Dallas, which won its seventh straight game with a 2-1 victory over Phoenix on Monday, has outscored its opponents 22-10 over the torrid stretch. Seven of those goals allowed have come over the last six contests.

"Seven just piles up, we don't look at it as seven, we take it game by game," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said. "One of our favorite sayings is, 'Find a way to win,' and going into the third period, that's what we were saying, 'Let's find a way to win.'"

The Stars tallied two goals in the final nine minutes on Monday, with Mike Modano netting the game-winner with 3:12 left in the contest, after assisting on the tying goal scored by Steve Ott.

While the Stars have been streaking, Dallas' Pacific Division-rival Phoenix has struggled, losing its last four games - including three by one goal.

Niko Kapanen scored the lone tally for the Coyotes in Monday's loss, where goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov turned away 42 shots. The Russian netminder, who stopped the first 40 shots he faced in the setback, has now lost his last five decisions.
