Sharks look to bounce back vs. Oilers

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - The San Jose Sharks look to bounce back on Thursday when they host the Edmonton Oilers.

The Sharks had a two-game win streak snapped on Tuesday, suffering a 4-3 overtime setback to the Calgary Flames. Patrick Rissmiller scored with 8:33 left in the third period to give San Jose a one-goal lead.

But Evgeni Nabokov, who leads the NHL with 31 wins this season, failed to hold the advantage, surrendering last minute goals in the third period and overtime, finishing with only 14 saves.

The Oilers got back on track Tuesday, posting a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Kyle Brodziak scored a pair of goals in the third period to lead Edmonton to its third win in five games.

A 23-year-old center, Brodziak has 10 goals and 10 assists this season, but it is the Oilers defense which needs a lift now after Sheldon Souray's season came to an end on Tuesday - four days after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder.

Souray, who has seven assists and 36 penalty minutes while recording a minus-7 rating, was limited to just 26 games due to the nagging injury.

As a member of the Montreal Canadiens last season, Souray had a career year with 26 goals and 64 points. His 19 power play goals established a new NHL record for defenseman.

Souray signed a five-year, $27 million free-agent contract with Edmonton this past summer.
