Stars eye fourth straight win; Canucks try to stop slide
Nov 6, 2006 - 5:12 PM Dallas (13-11-2) at Vancouver (7-7-1) 10:00 pm ESTVANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The first month of the season has been a rocky ride for the Vancouver Canucks. But it has been smooth sailing for the Dallas Stars.
The Canucks try to avoid their fourth straight loss Monday when they hook up with the sizzling Stars for the second time this season.
Vancouver begins its six-game road trip on the heels of three straight losses in which the team managed only two goals in each game. The Canucks dropped a 3-2 decision to Colorado on Saturday despite tallies from captain Markus Naslund and Daniel Sedin.
Losses have been extremely rare this season for the Stars, who have won their last three contests, yielding two goals or fewer in each victory. Dallas posted a 3-2 triumph against Edmonton on Friday behind goals from captain Brenden Morrow, Niklas Hagman and defenseman Trevor Daley.
The Stars won the first meeting between the teams this season - a 2-1 triumph on October 23. Hagman and Mike Modano scored and Marty Turco made 31 saves to improve to 12-2-0 lifetime against the Canucks.
Dallas has won 14 of its last 21 encounters with Vancouver.
