St. Louis, Lecavalier seek to lead Lightning past Islanders
Nov 6, 2006 - 5:18 PM Tampa Bay (6-7-1) at NY Islanders (6-5-2) 7:30 pm ESTUNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The superstars have delivered for the Tampa Bay Lightning, but the wins have not followed.
Martin St. Louis and Vincent Lecavalier hope to guide the Lightning out of their recent slump Monday when they take on the New York Islanders.
St. Louis and Lecavalier both have eight-game point streaks. St. Louis has nine goals and five assists in his run, while Lecavalier's surge features six tallies and seven assists.
In Saturday's 6-5 overtime loss to Boston, St. Louis had a goal and an assist and Lecavalier collected a career-high four assists. Ruslan Fedotenko and Brad Richards added power-play tallies for Tampa Bay, which wasted a 5-4 lead in the final minute of regulation.
The Lightning have lost four of their last five games following a three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, New York had its three-game run halted Saturday with a 4-1 defeat to Atlanta. Rick DiPietro made 15 saves and Jason Blake scored the lone goal for the Islanders, who went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
