Ducks try to stay unbeaten in regulation

Nov 6, 2006 - 5:23 PM Pittsburgh (7-4-0) at Anaheim (10-0-4) 10:00 pm EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks will try to remain the NHL's only unbeaten club in regulation time when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

Anaheim became the only team yet to lose in regulation on Saturday when the Buffalo Sabres were defeated by the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-1.

The Ducks looked impressive in their 6-2 rout of the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday. Defenseman Chris Pronger and Teemu Selanne each had a goal and two assists for the Ducks, who revived their struggling power play by converting on 3-of-7 chances with the extra skater.

Chris Kunitz and blue-liner Sean O'Donnell each scored an had an assist for Anaheim, which has not hosted Pittsburgh since the 2002-03 campaign. The clubs did not meet last season.

The Penguins look for a triumph to conclude their four-game road trip on a positive note. After whipping the Philadelphia Flyers, 8-2, and downing the Los Angeles Kings, 4-3, Pittsburgh dropped a 3-2 decision to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Michel Oullete and Dominic Moore scored for Pittsburgh, which went scoreless in seven power-play opportunities. Rookie sensation Evgeni Malkin, who tied a league record by tallying in his first six games, was held scoreless on three shots.
