Selanne looking to take Ducks franchise scoring lead

Feb 17, 2008 - 3:15 PM Calgary (29-21-8) at Anaheim (32-23-7) 8:00 pm EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Teemu Selanne has already helped the Anaheim Ducks get back on track. Now he's ready to become the franchise's all-time leading scorer.

The 37-year-old Selanne looks to obtain the milestone Sunday night as the Ducks continue their seven-game homestand with a visit from the Calgary Flames.

Selanne has recorded 669 of his 1,138 career points with Anaheim, tying him with former Ducks and current Blues left wing Paul Kariya for the most in franchise history. The Finnish superstar already holds the team record with 314 career goals.

The Ducks were winless in their previous six games (0-5-1) before Selanne returned February 5 after contemplating retirement for the first four months of the season.

The club immediately responded when Selanne came back, concluding their nine-game road swing with five consecutive victories. Selanne's homecoming was not so triumphant, as Anaheim suffered a 4-2 setback to the Dallas Stars on Friday.

This is Anaheim's second game on its current homestand. Despite the loss to the Stars, the Ducks are still 16-8-4 at home this season.

The Flames, who are in the middle of a five-game road trip, are coming off a 6-3 loss to the lowly Los Angeles Kings on Friday.

Captain Jarome Iginla leads Calgary with 35 goals and 71 points this season.
