Devils look to continue dominance of Hurricanes

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Devils have had little trouble with the Carolina Hurricanes this season, winning the two meetings by a combined eight goals.

The Devils look to move one step closer to a season sweep Monday afternoon when they host the Hurricanes.

The teams will play for the fourth and final time at Carolina on February 26.

New Jersey is not only battling the Pittsburgh Penguins for the top spot in the Atlantic Division, but sits just two points behind the Ottawa Senators in the race for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Devils are coming off a 3-2 road victory Saturday over the Senators, Ottawa's third straight loss.

Martin Brodeur is 31-19-4 on the season for New Jersey. Brodeur, who has made 18 consecutive starts, is 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average against the Hurricanes this season.

Carolina, which is in a four-team race for Southeast Division supremacy, has won four of its last five games.

The Hurricanes are coming off a 5-4 victory over Florida on Saturday. It was the first full game for Carolina since captain Rod Brind'Amour tore a ligament in his left knee - an injury that will likely end his season.
