Hurricanes look to continue dominance of Bruins

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) - The Carolina Hurricanes look to continue their recent run of success against the Boston Bruins when the teams meet on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes have won all three meetings with the Bruins this season and are 6-0-1 against them in their last seven games.

In their most recent meeting on February 12, former Bruin Sergei Sampsonov scored the game-winning goal and set up another in Carolina's 3-2 triumph.

Sampsonov, who spent 6 1/2 seasons with the Bruins, has six tallies and 11 assists this season with the Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks. All six of the former first-round pick's goals have come in his 17 games with Carolina.

The banged-up Hurricanes, clinging to first in the Southeast Division by two points, have lost captain Rod Brind'Amour for the season with a knee injury. Additionally, Ray Whitney (groin) and Erik Cole (flu) missed Monday's 6-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Boston will try to bounce back from Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bruins' All-Star defenseman Zdeno Chara scored with 50 seconds left in that game to force overtime. The 6-9 captain has 10 goals and 39 points on the season.
