Turco, Stars go for third straight win

DALLAS (Ticker) - The Calgary Flames are fighting for their playoff lives and now they face one of the NHL's hottest teams.

Marty Turco tries to lead the Dallas Stars to their third consecutive victory when they host the Flames on Wednesday.

Turco has been a major factor in the Stars recent surge as the club has won nine of their last 10 contests. The 32-year-old netminder made 28 saves en route to his second shutout of the season (32nd career) in Sunday's 1-0 triumph over the rival Detroit Red Wings.

If the Flames wish to pick up some much-needed ground in the playoff battle, they will have to solve Turco.

Calgary has 68 points and is tied for seventh in the Western Conference with the Vancouver Canucks. There isn't much room for error with the Phoenix Coyotes (31-26-4) lurking in ninth with 66 points.

All-Star defenseman Dion Phaneuf and captain Jarome Iginla each had two goals as the Flames defeated the Coyotes, 4-1, on Tuesday.
