Stars go for sixth straight win over Oilers

Feb 22, 2008 - 12:50 PM Edmonton (27-29-5) at Dallas (37-22-5) 8:30 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) - The Dallas Stars look to complete a season sweep of the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

The Stars are coming off just their second loss in 11 games on Wednesday, a 3-2 defeat to Calgary. Dallas is four points ahead of defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim in the Pacific Division and 10 back of Central-leading Detroit in the Western Conference.

The Stars have beaten the Oilers five straight times, including three this season. Dallas goaltender Marty Turco has allowed nine goals during that five-game streak and is 9-3-0 in his last 12 games with a 1.92 goals-against average.

Edmonton currently has the second-worst record in the Western Conference, only better than Los Angeles.

"They're another desperate team," Stars' center Steve Ott said. "I think every team we're going to be facing the rest of the way is going to be desperate to get in the playoffs, and for us, we have to play that way. We have to play our game and bury the bottom-tier teams."

The Oilers will try to avoid a third straight loss in this the finale of a four-game road trip. Edmonton is coming off a 5-4 loss to Nashville on Tuesday, losing for the first time in 18 games (14-1-3) in regulation when scoring at least four goals.
