Coyotes look to complete season sweep of Avalanche
Feb 22, 2008 - 1:02 PM Colorado (30-25-6) at Phoenix (31-26-4) 9:00 pm ESTGLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The Phoenix Coyotes have beaten the Colorado Avalanche three times in as a many games this season. A fourth win on Friday would be clutch.
With both clubs four points back of eighth-place Calgary (31-22-8) in the Western Conference playoff race, the game is likely to have a postseason feel.
The Coyotes have been playing well, winning three straight prior to a 4-1 loss to Calgary on Tuesday.
Phoenix's Radim Vrbata has five goals, an assist and also converted a shootout attempt in Phoenix's three wins over the Avalanche this season.
The Coyotes have not swept a season series between the teams since 1990-91, when the Phoenix franchise was in Winnipeg and Colorado was the Quebec Nordiques.
Colorado comes in having lost five straight. The Avalanche, still without the services of injured centers Joe Sakic and Paul Stastny, opened their five-game road trip with a 3-2 shootout loss on Wednesday to Anaheim.
