Islanders seeking seventh straight win vs. rival Devils
Feb 23, 2008 - 1:59 PM NY Islanders (30-25-7) at New Jersey (35-21-5) 1:00 pm ESTNEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - The New Jersey Devils have had a hard time with the New York Islanders.
The Islanders will go for their seventh consecutive victory Saturday afternoon when they visit the Devils in an Atlantic Division battle.
New Jersey is winless in 10 contests this season against New York-area - including an 0-4-1 mark against the Islanders.
Rick DiPietro made 32 saves and Miroslav Satan scored the lone goal in the third period to lift New York to its sixth win in a row Thursday, a 1-0 triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 26-year-old DiPietro, who has started each game for the Islanders over their current surge, is 25-21-7 with a 2.62 goals-against average and three shutouts on the campaign.
The Devils are on a roll of their own. The club is seeking their fourth straight win and they have posted a 7-1-2 record over their previous 10 games.
Martin Brodeur, who has 527 wins and 96 shutouts in his 14-year career, has started the last 20 contests for New Jersey.
