Kings look to end five-game road losing streak vs. Avalanche
Nov 7, 2006 - 2:59 PM Los Angeles (4-9-3) at Colorado (7-5-2) 9:30 pm ESTDENVER (Ticker) - While collecting plenty of frequent-flier miles, the Los Angeles Kings have consistently come up empty away from home.
Before starting a five-game homestand, the Kings attempt to snap a five-game road losing streak and win for just the third time in 14 overall contests in Tuesday's rematch with the Colorado Avalanche.
With six defeats in seven road contests this season, the Kings' slide began with a 6-1 loss to the Avalanche here on October 23. They have been outscored, 20-8, and are 2-of-31 on the power play during the streak.
Alexander Frolov scored his fifth goal of the season in the third period and rookie Anze Kopitar netted his fourth with the man advantage but Los Angeles failed to hold a two-goal lead in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes.
Andrew Brunette had a pair of tallies and Joe Sakic collected two assists as the Avalanche won for the third time in four contests with Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.
Sakic leads the team with 15 points this season and has 1,504 in his career, leaving him just two behind Ray Bourque for fifth place on the all-time list for points with the same franchise.
Milan Hejduk had two goals and an assist and Colorado scored five times in the second period in the earlier meeting against Los Angeles.
