Bruins rolling into homestand
Feb 26, 2008 - 1:39 PM Ottawa (36-21-6) at Boston (32-23-6) 7:30 pm ESTBOSTON (Ticker) - After a successful road trip, the Boston Bruins will kick off a three-game homestand with a visit from the rival Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.
The Bruins went 4-0-1 on their swing - including a 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. Glen Murray, who has 25 points after missing much of the season due to injury, scored two goals in that one.
With their recent success, the Bruins have climbed to seventh in the Eastern Conference. Still, the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres sit just one point behind them.
The Senators, who still lead the Northeast Division despite losing their hold on first in the Eastern Conference, are coming off an awful 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
Ottawa, one point behind the New Jersey Devils for first in the conference, is just 7-11-2 over its last 20 games and 21-19-6 since opening the season 15-2-0.
After the Senators won the first three matchups between these clubs this season, the Bruins came back to win the most recent meeting. Tim Thomas made 30 saves and Chuck Kobasew scored a goal and set up another in a 4-1 victory on January 31.
