Injury-riddled Red Wings host Sharks

DETROIT (Ticker) - At least some of the walking wounded are expected to be ready for the Detroit Red Wings when they face the San Jose Sharks on Friday.

Defenseman Brad Stuart, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings for a pair of draft picks on Tuesday, and six-time Vezina Trophy winner Dominik Hasek should be available to face the Sharks, who own the NHL's best road record at 20-8-3.

The Red Wings, who are 1-7-2 in their last 10 games, have been without captain Nicklas Lidstrom (knee), Chris Chelios (knee), Brian Rafalski (groin) and Niklas Kronwall (shoulder) - although Kronwall might return to action on Friday after missing his last 13 games.

Detroit returns home after a five-game road trip. The Red Wings, who have lost three straight at home, began the season 21-4-2 at Joe Louis Arena.

San Jose has won three straight and are currently in fifth place in the Western Conference.

Detroit has won six consecutive games against the Sharks, including the last three in the Western Conference semifinals last season.

All-Star goaltender Evgeni Nabokov has lost seven consecutive regular season games to the Red Wings.
