Wild look to regain Northwest supremacy vs. Panthers

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild got a much-needed win Wednesday. If they hope to stay on top in the hotly contest Northwest Division, they'll have to string together a few more.

The Wild look to do just that when they visit the lowly Florida Panthers on Friday.

Minnesota (75 points) is currently in the lead in the Northwest Division and in third place in the Western Conference playoff race by virtue of their high win total.

But the Calgary Flames (33-22-9, 75 points) have the same number of points and have won four of their last five.

The Wild, on the other hand, are just 1-3-1 in their last five games. But they picked up a win at lowly Tampa Bay on Wednesday to keep pace with the Flames.

Brian Rolston and Pavol Demitra tallied against the Lightning, snapping a five-game goalless streak for Rolston and a six-game slide for Demitra.

The Panthers are just 1-3-2 in their last six games and have surrendered third-period leads four times in the past two weeks.

Top scorer Olli Jokinen leads the club with 61 points but has just three points in his last eight games.
