Maple Leafs call up Kapanen
Dec 12, 2017 - 6:52 PM The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled Kasperi Kapanen from their American Hockey League affiliate and placed fellow forward Nikita Soshnikov on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.Kapanen, who was part of the Phil Kessel deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 1, 2015, did not record a point in three games with the Maple Leafs this season.
The 21-year-old native of Finland collected eight goals and four assists in 16 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
Soshnikov has been plagued by a lower-body injury and hasn't played since Nov. 24. The 24-year-old Russian has failed to secure a point in three games this season.
