Blues activate G Hutton

Dec 15, 2017 - 4:30 PM The St. Louis Blues activated backup goaltender Carter Hutton from injured reserve on Friday.

Huton, 31, was out since taking a slapshot off the top of his foot during the team's morning skate on Dec. 7.

The 6-foot-1, 202-pound Hutton has appeared in eight games for the Blues this season, posting a 4-2-0 record with a 1.88 goals-against average and .937 save percentage. He was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 1, 2016.

The Blues also placed defenseman Jay Bouwmeester on IR for an undisclosed injury, recalled forward Sammy Blais from the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage and assigned goaltender Jordan Binnington to the AHL's Providence Bruins.

Bouwmeester, 34, has played in 10 games for the Blues this season, posting a goal and an assist. The 6-4, 206-pounder is currently in his sixth season with the Blues after the team acquired him via trade on April 1, 2013. Overall, he has appeared in 1,081 career regular-season games, recording 393 points (83 goals, 310 assists) and 559 penalty minutes.

Blais, 21, has skated in nine games for the Blues this season, with one goal and two assists. The 6-2, 205-pounder has appeared in 11 games for the Rampage, recording 13 points (five goals, eight assists). Blais was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round in 2014.

Binnington, 24, has posted a 6-1-0 record and ranks second in the AHL overall with a 1.84 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in eight games for Providence this season. He was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round in 2011.
