The Flames look to get back on track vs. Coyotes
Mar 1, 2008 - 2:40 PM Calgary (33-23-9) at Phoenix (33-27-5) 10:00 pm ESTGLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The Calgary Flames will be looking to bounce back from a pair of tough losses when they visit the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday.
Seeking a fifth consecutive win on Tuesday, the Flames instead surrendered the tying goal late in the third period. Captain Jarome Iginla was then called for a tripping penalty, allowing Paul Stastny to score the game-winner for the Colorado Avalanche.
On Friday, Calgary saw its offense stagnate against the Anaheim Ducks, managing just one goal on 25 shots. Iginla assisted on the lone tally, but has not posted a goal in the past four games.
The Flames have 75 points and now sit in sixth place in the Western Conference, two points behind the Minnesota Wild (36-24-5) for first place in the Northwest Division.
The Coyotes have 71 points and are locked in a tight battle for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. They currently sit in 10th place, just one point behind the Colorado Avalanche (33-26-6) for eighth place.
Phoenix has won two of its past three games, including a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. Ilya Bryzgalov made 41 saves in the victory, and has surrendered just two goals in his past three starts.
The Flames have won two of the three meetings between the teams this season, including two wins in February. Iginla and Dion Phaneuf have combined saves goals in Calgary's victories.
