NHL Note - Washington Capitals Ovechkin, Alex

Dec 17, 2017 - 8:05 AM RW Alex Ovechkin scored 1:58 into overtime in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Anaheim. Ovechkin, at the end of a lengthy shift, entered the Anaheim zone and blasted a shot from the top of the right circle that eluded G John Gibson to the far side. It was Ovechkin's 23rd goal of the season, tied for the NHL lead with Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov. "I was tired obviously," Ovechkin said. "Just wanted to (dump) it, but it's nice to get (the goal). I think it deflected off (the defender's) stick, but I'll take it."
