Islanders set to battle Panthers without DiPietro

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders will look to bounce back from a critical loss when they host the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

Rick DiPietro made 27 saves Saturday, but the Islanders still suffered a 4-1 setback to the Philadelphia Flyers. As a result, New York has fallen four points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

DiPietro, who has started each of the last 14 games for the Islanders, will not be in the crease Sunday, as the netminder will attend funeral services for his grandmother.

Wade Dubielewicz likely will start in his place. The 29-year-old is 5-4-0 with a 3.22 goals-against average and .901 save percentage in 10 games this season.

The Panthers, who have defeated the Islanders in their two previous meetings this season, are trying to end a three-game slide. Florida is 1-4-2 over its last seven contests.

Captain Olli Jokinen leads the club with 30 goals and 31 assists but has a team-worst minus-16 rating this season.

Jokinen was kept off the scoresheet Friday as the Panthers lost to the Minnesota Wild, 3-2.
