Bruins look to rebound from horrid defeat
Mar 4, 2008 - 12:32 PM Florida (29-31-8) at Boston (35-24-6) 7:00 pm ESTBOSTON (Ticker) - The Boston Bruins' winning streak came crashing to a halt on Monday, but the club does not have much time to dwell on it.
Boston hopes for a better performance on Tuesday when they host the Florida Panthers at the TD Banknorth Garden.
The Bruins had a six-game winning streak snapped by the Washington Capitals on Monday, allowing six first-period goals en route to a dismal 10-2 setback. All-Star goaltender Tim Thomas allowed seven goals on 24 shots in the Bruins' most lopsided defeat of the season.
It was the first regulation loss in the last nine games for the Bruins, who have already equaled last season's win total and is currently tied for sixth place with the New York Rangers (34-24-8) in the Eastern Conference.
Florida is 2-4-2 in its last eight games, but is coming off a 1-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday.
Backup goaltender Craig Anderson made 53 saves - including 29 in the second period - in the win, while David Booth tallied his 19th goal in the first period for the only score of the game.
