Bruins trying to end recent struggles

BOSTON (Ticker) - The Boston Bruins look to get back in the win column when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.

Boston's six-game winning streak ended in Monday's 10-2 thrashing at the hands of Washington. The Bruins' defense was better Tuesday, but the offense could not get on track in a 1-0 overtime loss to Florida.

The Bruins, tied for sixth place in the Eastern Conference with the New York Rangers (34-24-9), are one of many teams in need of valuable points as the season winds down.

"A loss is a loss, 10-2, 2-1, 1-0, especially this time of year," Bruins right wing Glen Murray said. "We don't have three or four days to dwell on it. We know what we did well, and we didn't come out and battle."

The Maple Leafs are 6-2-1 in their last nine games but are coming off a 4-1 defeat to New Jersey on Tuesday.

Nik Antropov scored the lone goal for Toronto, while captain Mats Sundin recorded his team-leading 42nd assist. It was Sundin's fifth straight game with a point, recording five goals and five assists over that span.

The Bruins are 3-0-2 against the Maple Leafs this season, losing 4-3 in overtime on February 16 in their most recent meeting.
