Red-hot Sharks take successful road show to Chicago
Mar 7, 2008 - 2:01 PM San Jose (38-21-8) at Chicago (33-28-6) 7:30 pm ESTCHICAGO (Ticker) - The San Jose Sharks clearly have no problems playing away from home.
The Sharks, who have a league-best 22-8-3 road record, face the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday looking to win their eighth consecutive game. The game kicks off a three-game road trip for San Jose, which has defeated Chicago 10 straight times.
The recent surge has moved the Sharks to within three points of the first-place Dallas Stars in the Pacific Division. San Jose has played three less games than the Stars.
In the Sharks' current win streak, none of the seven victories have been by more than two goals and two have come after regulation.
The Blackhawks have also been playing well of late, posting a 10-3-1 record in their last 14 games. Chicago is currently in 11th place in the Western Conference.
The Blackhawks have won three straight, including a 3-0 win Wednesday over defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim. The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the Ducks, who had defeated Chicago five straight times prior to that.
San Jose forward Jeremy Roenick, who played for the Blackhawks from 1988-96, is listed as day-to-day after missing the last two games with the flu.
