Hurricanes look to keep rolling

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) - The surging Carolina Hurricanes go for a season-high fourth consecutive victory when they host the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Carolina, which holds a four-point lead over Washington (32-28-8) for first place in the Southeast Division, has had a trio three-game winning streaks this season.

The Hurricanes are 6-1-0 in their last seven games and are coming off a 3-2 victory over Minnesota on Thursday.

Erik Cole scored the go-ahead goal on the power play midway through the second, and has now registered a point in four straight contests.

The Sabres are fighting for a playoff spot as well, trailing the Philadelphia Flyers (34-26-8) by three points for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference.

Buffalo has lost three of its last four, including a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Washington on Wednesday. Ales Kotalik scored the lone tally for the Sabres.

The teams have split the two regular season meetings this season with Buffalo posting an 8-1 victory on December 1 in the most recent contest.
