Canucks look to jump back into the playoff picture

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) - The Vancouver Canucks will be attempting to push their way back into playoff contention in the Western Conference when they host the struggling St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

The Canucks (76 points) currently sit in ninth place in the West, two points behind the Nashville Predators (35-26-8) and Colorado Avalanche (36-26-6) for the eighth and final playoff spot.

Vancouver snapped a four game winless streak with a 6-2 victory over the Predators on Thursday, matching their goal total from the previous four games combined. Daniel Sedin and Sami Salo each notched three assists in the win.

The three points snapped a four-game scoreless streak but marked the seventh straight game without a goal for Sedin, who leads the team with 26 tallies.

Henrik Sedin leads the team in points with 65, but has just three in the last seven games.

The Blues have dropped out of playoff contention with a 1-6-1 record in their last eight games. They have scored one goal or less in each of the seven setbacks.

Paul Kariya leads St. Louis with 52 points, but has just two in the past 11 games and has not scored a goal since February 14.

Vancouver has taken two of the three meetings between the clubs this season, with both victories coming in a shootout.
