Lidstrom looks to lead Red Wings to fourth straight win

DETROIT (Ticker) - All-Star defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom is back and the Detroit Red Wings could not be happier.

Lidstrom looks for another solid outing in his second game back from injury on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

On Sunday, Lidstrom returned from a sprained MCL and notched a pair of assists in a 4-3 victory over Nashville. It was the third straight victory for Detroit, which leads the league with 96 points.

Lidstrom, who showed why he has won five of the last six Norris Trophies, leads all defenseman with 59 points.

Though leading the league in points, the Red Wings are 0-4-1 against the rival Blackhawks this season.

Dominik Hasek, who stopped 20 shots on Sunday, is 0-2-1 with a 3.27 goal-against average in three games vs. Chicago this season.

Chicago, which is five points behind Vancouver (34-25-10) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, is 10-4-2 in its last 16 games.

Patrick Kane, the leading candidate to capture the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year, continues to lead the club with 59 points and 43 assists. Patrick Sharp leads the club with 34 goals and is plus-20 for the season.
