Bruins look to end funk
Mar 11, 2008 - 1:03 PM Boston (36-25-8) at Ottawa (38-25-7) 7:30 pm EDTOTTAWA (Ticker) - The Boston Bruins need to breakout of their latest slump if they are going to stay in the thick of the playoff picture in the tightly-contested Eastern Conference.
The Bruins look to end their recent woes on Tuesday when they visit the Ottawa Senators.
Boston fell to 1-2-2 over its last five games on Sunday during a 1-0 shootout loss to the red-hot New York Rangers (37-24-9) - who are tied with the Senators at 83 points, three ahead of the seventh-place Bruins.
Defenseman Zdeno Chara missed Sunday's contest with an undisclosed upper torso injury, which he suffered during a 2-1 win against the Washington Capitals on Saturday. The Bruins captain, who is third on the team with 48 points this season, is listed as day-to-day.
The Senators, who play 10 of their 12 remaining games against Northeast Division opponents, salvaged the final game of a four-game road trip by claiming a 4-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday.
The Senators, who went 1-2-1 during their recent West Coast swing, are 20-12-3 at Scotiabank Place this season.
