Flyers visit Maple Leafs in first game of home-and-home
Mar 11, 2008 - 1:13 PM Philadelphia (35-26-8) at Toronto (30-30-10) 7:30 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) - The Philadelphia Flyers go for their third straight win when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first game of a home-and-home series on Tuesday.
The Flyers, who are currently the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, are 5-1-1 since suffering through a 10-game losing streak during February.
Scott Hartnell had a pair of goals and Kimmo Timonen had three assists in Philadelphia's 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday.
Timonen has an assist in six straight games, while Jeff Carter - who scored his 26th goal against New York - has recorded a point in five straight contests.
The Maple Leafs have alternated wins and losses in their last four games and are coming off a 2-1 setback to New Jersey on Saturday. Toronto has not lost back-to-back games since February 13 and 14.
Captain Mats Sundin scored a power-play goal for his team-leading 31st tally of the season in the loss to New Jersey. The veteran has registered a point in eight consecutive games, scoring seven goals with seven assists over that span.
The Flyers have won the first two games between the teams this season, posting a 3-2 victory on January 4 when the teams met in Toronto. The teams will meet in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
