Red-hot Sharks go for 10th straight victory

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - The San Jose Sharks look to extend their franchise-record winning streak to 10 games when they visit the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

The current streak of nine wins is tied for the longest in the NHL this season as New Jersey and Detroit each won nine straight earlier in the campaign.

The Sharks, who own the league's best road record at 24-8-3, have won seven of their nine games during the run away from home - including a 3-2 shootout victory over Minnesota on Sunday.

Patrick Marleau tallied the game-winner in the third round of the shootout after Brian Rolston had tied the game for the Wild with 29 seconds to play in regulation.

Marleau also stopped what would have been the game-winning goal in overtime when he batted the puck out of the air in front of his own net.

The Predators went 3-3-0 on their six-game road trip, and are coming off a 4-3 loss at Detroit on Sunday.

Martin Erat had a goal and an assist in the loss, less than one week after scoring his first career hat trick against Edmonton on March 4.

The Sharks have won the first three meetings with Nashville this season, after defeating the Predators in five games in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs last season.
