Canucks, Ducks both aiming for franchise history

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks both have the opportunity to make franchise history when the teams meet on Wednesday.

After winning each of the first three meetings this campaign, the Canucks are seeking their first season sweep of the Ducks in the 14-year history of the Anaheim franchise.

Meanwhile, the Ducks enter Wednesday's contest on a seven-game home win streak and are looking to win eight in a row at the Honda Center for the first time in franchise history.

Vancouver will be seeking its fourth straight victory after posting a 2-1 overtime triumph against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.

With the win, the Canucks moved into eighth place in the Western Conference standings, one point behind the Minnesota Wild (37-26-7) and two points in front of the ninth place Nashville Predators (35-28-8).

Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 37 saves on Tuesday but it wasn't enough as the Ducks suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. The loss was just Giguere's fourth in his last 14 starts, falling to 10-2-2 over that span.
