Oilers try to continue run vs. Coyotes

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The Edmonton Oilers look to continue their dominance against the Phoenix Coyotes when the teams meet Saturday.

The Oilers have won both meetings with the Coyotes this season and six of the last eight contests, including three of the last four at Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix.

Edmonton suffered a 5-1 setback to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday after winning its previous three games in overtime on the strength of a trio of game-winning goals from rookie Andrew Cogliano.

Sam Gagner netted the only goal on Thursday for the Oilers, who failed to overcome a 3-0 deficit early in the second period. Gagner's goal came at 7:21 of the second period on a power play - his sixth point in the last three games.

The Coyotes enter Saturday's contest after a pair of victories over the Anaheim Ducks and Vancouver Canucks.

Radim Vrbata scored the only goal in the shootout to lead the Coyotes to a 3-2 victory over the Ducks on Tuesday before Ilya Bryzgalov made 24 saves and notched his fifth career shutout - third this season - en route to a two-goal triumph.

Bryzgalov, who owns a 27-20-5 record this campaign, has allowed just three goals during his last three victories and is 3-1-0 over his last four starts.
