Sharks seek 12th consecutive win

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - The Pacific Division-leading San Jose Sharks look to extend their franchise-best winning streak to 12 games when they host the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

San Jose's winning streak is the NHL's longest run since the New Jersey Devils reeled off 12 straight wins from February 26 to March 23, 2001.

The Sharks hold a two-point lead over Anaheim in the Pacific Division.

Milan Michalek scored on the opening shift and three others found the back of the net during the Sharks' four-goal first period in Friday's 4-1 triumph over the St. Louis Blues.

"We came you flying," San Jose center Jeremy Roenick said. "The first shift set the tone for the whole game. That's what we have to continue on here, out strong starts. We're tough to beat when we get a lead."

Dwayne Roloson made 38 saves to lead the Oilers to their fourth win in five tries with Saturday's convincing 5-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

Edmonton enters just seven points behind the Vancouver Canucks (36-26-10) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
