Nabokov, Sharks hope to start another streak vs. Kings

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - With their 11-game winning streak over, the San Jose Sharks will turn their attention to securing the Pacific Division title.

Evgeni Nabokov attempts to help the Sharks extend their points streak to 13 games Tuesday when they visit the lowly Los Angeles Kings.

San Jose suffered a 2-1 shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, ending the franchise's longest winning streak.

The Sharks currently hold a three-point edge on the Anaheim Ducks for the top spot in the division. The biggest reason for the club's success is Nabokov, who has emerged as a Vezina Trophy candidate.

The 32-year-old netminder started all but two games this season, posting a 41-20-8 record with a 2.13 goals-against average and six shutouts.

The Kings, who have the worst record in the NHL, are the only team to be official eliminated from the postseason.

Los Angeles is coming off a 2-0 setback to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
