Final - 2OT
Rangers look to stay perfect against Devils
Mar 19, 2008 - 12:31 PM NY Rangers (38-26-9) at New Jersey (42-24-6) 7:00 pm EDTNEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - The New York Rangers are still looking up at the New Jersey Devils in the Atlantic Division standings, but can continue their move toward first place on Wednesday.
The Rangers snapped a two-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in another divisional battle.
The win enabled New York to pull within five points of the Devils, who are battling Montreal and the Penguins for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Rangers, 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, are unbeaten against New Jersey in five games this season. Following Wednesday's game, the clubs will meet March 27 in New York and April 6 in New Jersey.
Henrik Lundqvist has been in goal for the Rangers in all five games, posting a 5-0-0 record with two shutouts and a 0.79 goals-against average.
"It's always fun to beat the New York-area teams," Lundqvist said. "We have three more games against these guys and they have been good games. They are a good team but, so far this year, we have really played our best every time we play them."
Despite a 1.98 GAA, Devils' netminder Martin Brodeur is 0-3-0 in five starts against New York.
Left wing Nigel Dawes has three goals in four games against New Jersey this season.
