Oilers continue road trip against Blues
Nov 12, 2006 - 3:08 PM Edmonton (8-7-1) at St Louis (4-8-3) 2:00 pm ESTST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Oilers have played some of the better NHL clubs on their current five-game road trip. On Sunday they meet one of the lower teams in the league when they play the St. Louis Blues.
The Oilers, who have lost six of seven, have been defeated by Nashville, Dallas, Detroit and Montreal, who were a combined 41-16-5 entering Saturday's action. Edmonton did get a victory in its last outing, a 4-1 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.
Ryan Smyth led the Oilers with two goals while Dwayne Roloson recorded 26 saves. Smyth leads the Oilers with 10 goals.
Despite the victory, Edmonton continued to struggle on the power play. It is 0-for-22 in its last five games.
St. Louis tries to rebound from a 3-1 setback to the lowly Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.
Lee Stempniak scored the lone goal for the Blues, who are 1-5-1 in their last seven games. St. Louis center Doug Weight, who had four assists against the Colorado Avalanche on November 2, has not recorded a point in three games since.
