Red Wings seeking Presidents' Trophy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) - The Detroit Red Wings have already clinched the Central Division, now they have the Presidents' Trophy in their sights.

The Red Wings, who lead the NHL with 104 points, go for their third straight win on Saturday when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Detroit claimed the division crown and became the first team in the NHL to clinch a playoff spot with a 5-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on March 13.

However, after punching their ticket to the postseason, the Red Wings suffered a pair of regulation losses to the Nashville Predators and Blue Jackets.

But, Detroit got its revenge over the next two games thanks to third-period offensive outbursts from Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk.

Zetterberg scored a natural hat trick - the third three-goal game of his career - during the third period on Wednesday to lead the Red Wings to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over the Blue Jackets.

Datsyuk nearly duplicated Zetterberg's effort one night later, notching a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the game to seal a 6-3 win against the Predators on Thursday.

Manny Malhotra notched Columbus' only goal against the Red Wings on Wednesday, scoring his 11th tally of the season.
