Slumping Senators take on Canadiens in Northeast battle
Nov 13, 2006 - 3:49 PM Montreal (8-4-3) at Ottawa (6-9-1) 7:30 pm ESTOTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators so far have not resembled the club that was the top team in the Eastern Conference last season.
The Senators, who have lost four of their last five games, try to get things going when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.
Ottawa has lost twice already this season to the lowly Boston Bruins, including a 4-3 defeat in Boston on Saturday.
Chris Neil led the Senators with two goals while Jason Spezza scored the other goal for Ottawa, which went 1-for-7 on the power play.
The Canadiens try to regroup for a 5-1 whipping from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Saku Koivu scored the lone goal for the Canadiens, who were outshot, 42-26. David Aebischer started in goal for Montreal but was pulled after allowing four goals on 28 shots. Cristobal Huet replaced Aebischer and made 13 saves.
No one has shouted yet.
